Winning Animutations
From J2museum
I am a pretty big fan of animutations! I've decided to put up a page on my favorites here. They're in no order, since that's way too hard.
Animutators
the ones you should check out right now
- Neil Cicierega (Trapezoid/Deporitaz) - father of animutation. Hasn't done much in the animutation area lately, but his early ones are very win.
- Andrew Kepple (TmsT) - Probably my favorite animutationist EVER. He produces several a year, so awesome stuff from him is always fresh!
- Toxic (Marko, Bob Barker, etc.) - known for his KRUD radio show and revolutionizing the world of animutation with Chocolate Niblet Beans.
- Dwedit - An underrated animutationist who deserves more publicity.
- Darkhampster0 - Probably the least known of these five, but his animutations have something that differs from something else that I can't quite put my finger on. His stuff's awesome.
Animutations
Chocolate Niblet Beans
by: Toxic the Machine
Tox gave animation a much-needed makeover when it hit a slump with this awesome thing. It's like Hyakugojyuuichi Forever on acid. Yeah, I know that's like being on acid on acid, but still.
More specifically, it gives animutation a Japanese kid show look. The bright flashy colors aren't just the sixteen bit ones. It's like, candy coating it. And the random thing means you never know what flavor you get!
Colin vs. Jesus Trilogy
by: Andrew Kepple
It doesn't seem to have an official name. But it's awesome and I think my favorite series of flash movies. Even more so than Homestar. YES, I LOVE IT THAT MUCH.
French Erotic Film
For the longest time, I've wanted to assemble like, two hundred people in an amphitheater of sorts and have like, two people lead everyone in an a cappella, campfiresque version of this song. It'd be so awesome.
Though I prefer episode 2, there are so many things I love about this one. I highly reccoment that you go look at it first as a pwn introduction to the world of animutation.
Plan 9 From Underpants
This was the first animutation I had ever seen. Took a link to ABS from the Weebl forum way back when, where I was exploring. Plan 9 had just been released. I watched it and LOVED IT.
I once did a crappy crappy crap crap crappy midi version of the song in it when I was like, 11. I sent it to Kepple, and he didn't respond. I was all emo about it, but in hindsight I honestly don't blame him.
Conquest of Animutopia
When this was released, I squealed with joy. At the end of it, I was practically in tears. Of both 'omg so touching' and 'LMFAFO'. The dream scene is my favorite.
French Erotic Birthday
A year after the original or something, he released this. I love it more than bunnies.
Dash
by: Veloso
Nobody has really heard of this one, but it's awesome. The best thing ever is karaeoke mode. And for some reason, those damn scrubbing bubbles make me laugh to no end every time.
Earth vs. Funk
by: Neil Cicierega
I'm not really sure which of the two by Neil on this list is my favorite. They've both got their pwn parts. This one is more overall win I guess, while Mop is more 'occasional win'. Still: win.
Gone with the Wind 1979
by: Un-J
The wacky secondary host of KRUD brings you his first animutation! And it's a keeper. The song was excellent - I sort of covered it in devCAST like, two or three.
you could be a hero...
HOLY SHIT! NINJAS!!!!
by: Random Ferret
I vote this best music in an animutation. It's a little bit rocky, a little bit strange. And the lyrics make me crack up every time. (bear with the load - it is so totally worth it)
Hyakugojyuuichi FOREVER
by: Andrew Kepple and Neil Cicierega, with an array of guest artists
The original 151 is worshipped in the animutational world, but I don't know. While I appreciate it, it's just lacking something that could make it to my favorites list. These two cool guys somehow knew what I was thinking and made this to compensate. It's long, but so totally worth the load.
Irrational Exuberance
by: Veloso
How the hell could anyone not love this?
Jamezbond
by: Dwedit
The lesser of two pwndweditflashes. There was a lot of hype about Miko Miko Nurse, but it was really shallow and not-awesome. Jamezbond is really awesome, though.
Life is Like a Mop
by: Neil Cicierega
Come on. 'Pokemon sandwich' is the single greatest phrase ever. And the song works pretty awesomely with Neil's style then.
Mostly Metal Jacket
by: Bill Volk
I have no explanation. It's just really freaking awesome.
Project Way Old
by: Darkhampster0
Darkhampster0's finest work. I think it'll speak for itself.
then clam chowder mashes foam in salmonella stew
Suzukisan
by: Dwedit
One of my first animutations, it became a lasting favorite. This goes under the category of songs with a lot of singers, which always leads to pwn. It's also notable that this, like the song in Mop, is about trading Pokemon.
oh kung fu ketchup red shoe!
The Fingertips Project
by: an assortment of animutationists
Let's put it this way: If animutation was a film, this would be the end scene.
Honorable Mentions
Ones that I really enjoy more than the average animutation, but not enough to put on the list.
Dopefission
by: Andrew Kepple
Classic TmsT - weird music, seizury images, and tons of CK references. This one seems to reflect Cicierega's old work, which is kinda odd for Andy/Drew/whatever Andrew abbreviates to.
Joey
by: Darkhampster0
I actually added a handful of images and words to this one. I was bugging him to finish, and he 'okay just give me stuff and you can help'-said. The best part of this one is the ending picture of the guy from Friends with the hat and gun.
joey.. ick, ick.. joey.. ick ick ick..
Watch Joey (lol guyz)
Lobster Bucket
by: Darkhampster0
This animutation is pretty unorthodox and amusing, but it's mostly here for two reasons - the first is that it introduced me to the Aquabats. The second is for the big holy-crap-fast part near the end. It's just filled with inside jokes and awesome secrets.
